The national tourist office of
Germany is launching a campaign inviting people to use their mobile phones to receive information about visiting the country.
Online promotions will invite consumers to text 'Germany' to 60707 to receive a reply summarising the holiday opportunities on offer.
Users of the service will be given information on different themes, such as the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall or activity holidays in Germany.
The messages will also direct people to the German National Tourist Office (GNTO) website, where it is possible to request brochures, sign up for a newsletter or download free desktop wallpapers depicting city scenes and landscapes.
Invitations to send messages to 60707, which will be charged at standard network rates, will be included in all relevant GNTO marketing campaigns this year.
A number of amusement parks in Germany are set to begin welcoming visitors at the beginning of April, including Europapark south-west of
Stuttgart, Legoland Gunzburg and Phantasialand near
Cologne.
