Blackpool Airport tops customer survey
Blackpool Airport has been voted the UK's favourite air travel hub in a new survey by Which? Holiday.
With an overall customer satisfaction rating of 80 per cent, the base in north-west England was ranked just ahead of London City Airport, which received a score of 78 per cent.
Both airports were praised for the efficiency of their check-in procedures, the amount of time it takes to pass security, staff attitude and other aspects of the travel experience.
Southampton Airport also performed well, winning a 71 per cent rating that put it near the top of the list, but Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport did not prove so popular, both appearing in the bottom six.
Lorna Cowan, editor of Which? Holiday, said: "It seems clear that Which? members prefer the experience of flying from smaller regional airports to using the larger ones. So it is well worth looking into the routes offered from smaller airports when planning a holiday to short-haul destinations.
"But people still need to use Gatwick and Heathrow for long-haul trips - our results suggest that these large airports need to work much harder to provide a better service for their passengers."
Blackpool Airport hosts flights from airlines including Aer Arann and Flybe and offers connections to Dublin, Belfast, Faro and other destinations.
