Virgin Atlantic to support budding entrepreneurs
As part of its 25th birthday celebrations this year, Virgin Atlantic is launching PitchTV, a scheme designed to provide support to budding entrepreneurs.
People with business ideas will be able to record a video pitch and upload it to a Virgin website, where it will be viewed and rated by the online community on a monthly basis.
The video submissions that receive the most votes will be shown on Virgin Atlantic flights on PitchTV, which will be introduced as part of the airline's inflight entertainment offering.
Business travellers who like the look of any of the video pitches can get in contact with the person who submitted the idea to discuss taking it further.
Virgin Atlantic president Sir Richard Branson said: "When I was starting out, I wish I could have had the chance to pitch my business ideas directly to people who could help make my ambitions a reality. We can now make that happen for you.
"If you're a budding entrepreneur, we're giving you the unique opportunity of getting your ideas [seen] by top business professionals from around the world onboard Virgin Atlantic planes."
The airline had some fun for April Fool's Day yesterday when it announced a "spicy non-stop service" from Heathrow Airport to Santiago, which was introduced by new country manager for Chile 'Hal Apeno'.
