Abu Dhabi grand prix tickets "selling fast"
Etihad Airways has revealed that tickets for the inaugural Formula One Abu Dhabi grand prix are selling fast at the airline's five stores in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
More than a thousand tickets were sold in the first few days of being available at the carrier's shops in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain.
Etihad, the official sponsor of the race, has launched a number promotions to generate interest in the event, including a display of its branded Formula One car at Marina Mall in Dubai last weekend.
Earlier this year, the airline unveiled two aircraft that had been painted in a special F1 livery, with features including a chequered flag design on the tail fin.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad's chief commercial officer, said: "As title sponsor and the airline of Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways is thrilled to play a central role in selling tickets to motor racing fans in the UAE.
"As well as visitors from across the world flying into Abu Dhabi for the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways grand prix, we are also looking forward to welcoming thousands of UAE residents to the capital for this historic occasion."
Formula One races will be held in Suzuka, Japan (October 4th) and Sao Paulo, Brazil (October 18th) before the World Championship reaches its conclusion in Abu Dhabi on November 1st.
