A new tourism initiative that invites international travellers in
New Zealand to record video reviews of their holiday has reportedly been a big success.
Tourism New Zealand announced that the 'video raves', which are submitted at a mobile studio called the Collection Point that is touring the country, have been seen by more than 100,000 people on YouTube.
The studio will have visited destinations all over New Zealand by the time its tour finishes at the end of April, from
Auckland in the north to
Dunedin in the south, collecting the thoughts of travellers from the
UK,
Australia, the
US and other countries.
George Hickton, chief executive of Tourism New Zealand, said: "Social media is used by people from all walks of life to connect with people back home while they are travelling.
"Add to this the fact that word-of-mouth is one of the most effective marketing tools to promote a destination, and the 100,000 views milestone shows that the Collection Point has really proven its worth."
Flights to New Zealand are available with carriers including
Emirates,
Malaysia Airlines and
Air New Zealand.
