Icelandair prepares for whale watching season
Icelandair is set to see a sharp increase in passengers over the coming weeks and months as travellers head to Iceland for whale watching season.
The season begins in May and gives people the opportunity to see wildlife in the north Atlantic waters surrounding Iceland, an environment that Icelandair describes as "one of the most spectacular settings on earth".
Cruises set off from Reykjavik and visit Faxafloi Bay, where tourists will have the opportunity to see minke and humpback whales, dolphins and possibly orcas.
Bird lovers may want to choose a cruise that passes by Puffin Island, which is home to hundreds of the popular seabirds.
Icelandair urged travellers to head to Reykjavik to experience Iceland's natural attractions and also make the most of the exchange rate, which is currently in favour of the pound.
The airline's flights to Reykjavik depart from London Heathrow and Manchester Airport and also provide the opportunity to connect to destinations including Toronto, Orlando and New York via the Icelandic capital.
