South Australia to get movie exposure
Millions of people around the world will be seeing some of the sights and landscapes of South Australia this year as a number of films are released featuring destinations in the state.
Arguably the biggest film to have been shot in the region recently is The Boys are Back, a movie starring British actor Clive Owen that took in some 33 locations, from the Fleurieu peninsula's beaches to the Adelaide Hills.
The film was directed by Scott Hicks, the man behind the Oscar-winning Shine.
Hicks said: "Adelaide has been my home since I came to Australia as a teenager. I've always been inspired by South Australia, by its natural beauty and variety of landscape and environment."
South Australia also provided the location for Last Ride, a road movie starring Hugo Weaving of The Matrix and Lord of the Rings fame.
It is the marine creatures of the state's Eyre peninsula that are the stars of Under the Sea, a new IMAX 3D film narrated by Jim Carrey that studies the existence of animals including great white sharks, giant cuttlefish and sea lions.
Flights to Adelaide, South Australia's state capital, are available with Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and other carriers.
