Stansted Airport has joined in with a tribute to
Air Berlin 30 years after the airline first began flight operations from
Berlin.
The carrier has gone from strength to strength over the past three decades, becoming
Germany's second largest airline after
Lufthansa with some 30 million passengers a year.
Via its hub in
Dusseldorf, the airline offers connections to destinations all over the world including
New York,
Miami,
Bangkok and the
Maldives.
Nick Barton, commercial and development director at London Stansted, said the airport was "delighted" to see the airline reach its 30th anniversary.
He added: "Air Berlin pride themselves on offering low fares with allocated seating, complimentary refreshments, child discounts and a generous 20kg luggage allowance, which have always been extremely popular offerings to business and leisure passengers."
Air Berlin expanded its international network this week with the launch of its first flight from
Berlin to
Oslo.
