Virgin Atlantic has announced that it will launch new
flights to Puerto Rico for the winter 2009-10 season.
The airline will fly to
San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, once a week from
Gatwick Airport via
Antigua between November 7th this year and April 24th 2010.
Virgin Atlantic already operates a fairly extensive network of flights to the
Caribbean, with services to destinations including
Barbados,
Havana and
St Lucia.
Chief executive Steve Ridgway said: "We are delighted to be flying to Puerto Rico, popularly known as the Island of Enchantment, this winter.
"This colourful, diverse and culturally unique island is a welcome addition to our Caribbean programme. From the stunning beaches and tropical rainforests to the charming colonial city of San Juan, there is something for every holidaymaker."
Virgin Atlantic has launched a number of promotions and special offers this year to mark its 25th birthday, which have included discount flights to
Shanghai.
