American Airlines to use Boeing 757 on international flights
American Airlines has announced that it will use Boeing 757 aircraft on international routes following a reconfiguration of part of its fleet.
The airline is currently remodelling 18 of its 124 757s, the first of which was used to operate a flight to Brussels from New York yesterday (May 7th).
Due for completion at the end of this year, the fleet update will see the planes equipped with new seats, cabin interiors, inflight entertainment systems and other features.
Business class passengers will be provided with 16 lie-flat seats, larger workspaces and new in-seat entertainment options.
Lauri Curtis, the carrier's vice-president of onboard service, said: "American Airlines' fleet of Boeing 757 international aircraft will be well-suited to serve select international routes following the refurbishment initiative."
The reconfigured planes will be used on transatlantic and Latin American routes, including connections from Miami to Salvador in Brazil and flights from Boston to Paris.
People travelling from the UK can fly with American Airlines from Manchester Airport to Chicago and from Heathrow Airport to New York and Los Angeles.
