Leeds Bradford Airport targets European expansion
Leeds-Bradford Airport will be represented at the Routes Europe 2009 conference in Prague this week as it bids to extend its network of flights across the continent.
Routes Europe is the largest networking event for the aviation industry in Europe, attracting more than 650 delegates including up to 75 airlines and 200 airport representatives.
Leeds Bradford Airport commercial director Tony Hallwood will be attending the event at Prague Airport and meeting with a number of low-cost and scheduled airlines to encourage new service launches at the Yorkshire hub.
His meetings will focus on the regions of Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland.
Mr Hallwood said: "With strong support from the business community across the Yorkshire region, we are already stimulating significant interest in what Leeds, Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region can offer to a range of European airlines.
"We are confident that the first results of our determined efforts in Prague to secure more routes will be announced later this year."
Leeds Bradford Airport currently operates a network of European flights that includes connections to Amsterdam, Brussels, Barcelona and Paris.
