Etihad Airways prepares for busy summer

Etihad Airways is getting ready for its busiest summer yet by encouraging travellers to be fully prepared for their trips.

In order to ensure that flights remain as punctual as possible, Etihad urged passengers to prepare for each stage of their journey and, if possible, to make use of online check-in facilities.

So far this year, the airline has operated 89 per cent of its flights within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time.

Over the coming months, Etihad will be attempting to maintain that record during what could be its busiest summer ever, with new flights being launched to destinations including Athens, Istanbul and Larnaca.

Captain Richard Hill, the airline's chief operations officer, said: "The summer is the busiest period for any airline and Etihad Airways is anticipating 2009 to be our busiest ever, especially with the new Mediterranean destinations of Athens, Istanbul and Larnaca set to join our global flight network."

Etihad will also be expanding its network in the US this year when it launches new flights from Abu Dhabi to Chicago.
