Business travellers 'losing out on expenses'
Business travellers are losing nearly half a billion pounds every year by failing to claim back expenses from their employers, according to new research.
Barclaycard carried out a survey which found that 32 per cent of people who take regular business trips from the UK fail to claim back travel costs, with each individual losing an average of £373 in unclaimed expenses every year.
The financial services firm also found that only 61 per cent of business travellers regularly claim back all of their expenses, compared to 79 per cent in last year's survey.
Neil Radley, managing director of Barclaycard Commercial, said: "Anyone who regularly travels on business knows keeping track of all expenses can be tricky, especially when your top priority is your performance.
"Managing incidental and often small costs can drop to the bottom of the list of priorities."
Barclaycard surveyed more than 2,000 chief executives, chairmen, directors, personal assistants and other businesspeople for its research.
People travelling from the UK can catch business class flights to a number of significant commercial centres, including Chicago, Dubai and New York.
