The Great Singapore Sale was launched recently with a promotional event that featured Michelle Dewberry, winner of the BBC show The Apprentice in 2006.
Ms Dewberry participated in the Great Singapore Shopping Challenge, which was held in
Singapore on May 30th and saw a number of international teams competing to see who could pick up the best bargains.
Representing the
UK, the former Apprentice winner beat off competition from
Australia,
China,
Thailand and other countries to win the challenge, managing to save an impressive S$25,581 (£10,950) through bargain shopping.
Ms Dewberry and her co-shopper Amanda Zuydervelt said they had "a ridiculous amount of fun" taking part in the challenge.
Divya Panickar of the
Singapore Tourism Board said: "The UK team's success is indicative of Singapore's appeal as one of the world's top shopping destinations.
"Choice, quality and above all value for money continue to be its trademarks, further enhanced by the excitement, vibrancy and ambience of [the] recently revamped Orchard Road."
The Great Singapore Sale will offer discounts at some of the city-state's most popular shopping locations until July 26th.
