Great Lakes prepares for busy events season

People visiting the Great Lakes region of the United States this summer will have opportunities to attend several events and festivals.

One of the most unusual offerings is the Nisswa Turtle Races season in Minnesota, which will see hundreds of people turn up to test the speed of their turtles against other competitors.

Races will be held every Wednesday from June 10th to August 19th.

Travellers visiting Chicago this year will have the chance to visit Grant Park from June 26th to July 5th for the 29th annual Taste of Chicago festival.

More than 70 of the most popular restaurants in Chicago will participate in this event, serving food to over three million visitors.

Music fans will also be planning trips to the Great Lakes region this year for the International Jazz Festival in Detroit.

Spread across the border between the United States and Canada in eastern North America, the Great Lakes is the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world.
