Japan Airlines is taking part in a campaign to increase the number of inbound travellers visiting
Japan this year.
The airline and the Central Japan Railway Company - the two major modes of transport that carry people into and around Japan - have teamed up to help stimulate the tourism industry.
Among the initiatives being launched is a promotion of services on the Shinkansen rail system, also known as the bullet train network.
Travellers can connect to the high-speed rail services at destinations such as Kyoto and Takayama and use them to travel throughout Japan.
In a statement on its new partnership with the Central Japan Railway Company, Japan Airlines said: "Both companies look forward to developing the collaboration further and will cooperate to offer holidaymakers to Japan greater convenience and new domestic destinations that best represent Japan."
UK travellers can catch flights from
London Heathrow to Tokyo with Japan Airlines and connect to the carrier's domestic network to fly to destinations such as
Nagoya,
Osaka and
Sapporo.
