Belfast International Airport has revealed that it is expecting a busy summer this year.
During the months of June, July and August, more than 1.5 million passengers are expected to pass through the
Belfast hub.
The airport is currently undergoing a £10 million terminal renovation that will improve its capability to handle high passenger numbers in the future.
John Doran, managing director of Belfast International, said: "We're getting ready to welcome tourists from all over the world as well as witnessing an exodus of mostly sun-loving travellers from ever more distant parts of the island of Ireland heading to global destinations direct from Belfast International.
"Despite the economic gloom, it's clear our customers are determined to have a summer holiday and our airlines are seeing a surge in late bookings as canny travellers seek good deals."
People travelling from Belfast International Airport can catch flights to
New York,
Paris,
Barcelona and other destinations with carriers including
Continental Airlines,
Aer Lingus and
easyJet.
