A number of airlines belonging to the Star Alliance network have moved from Terminal 2 to the refurbished Terminal 1 at
Heathrow Airport.
Five carriers made the move this week -
Austrian Airlines,
Lufthansa,
Swiss,
TAP Air Portugal and
Croatia Airlines.
They join a number of other Star Alliance carriers that are already based at Heathrow Terminal 1, including
Air New Zealand,
bmi,
South African Airways and
US Airways.
The move is part of Star Alliance's ongoing 'move under one roof' strategy, which is designed to bring all of its airlines based in
London together to boost efficiency and improve the travel experience for passengers.
Carriers belonging to the Star Alliance group now offer a total of 187 daily flights from Heathrow Airport, serving some 73 destinations in 23 countries.
Bmi recently extended its offering to customers at the hub with the opening of its Number One Heathrow lounge, which features a study area, a cafe, day-beds, internet access and other facilities.
