New terminal experience launched at Manchester Airport
People catching flights from Manchester Airport will now benefit from a new travel experience at Terminal 1 following a major redevelopment of the facility.
Some £50 million has been spent on the overhaul of the airport's flagship terminal over the past two years, equipping it with one of the UK's largest airside shopping and catering facilities.
According to Manchester Airport, the changes will "put the fun back into flying" and make passengers' journeys through the terminal much easier.
The development scheme was based on the results of in-depth studies on travellers' state of mind as they pass through the airport.
Andrew Cornish, managing director of the gateway in the north-west, said: "With the work finished in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 set to follow shortly after, the future looks bright.
"We've seen retail growth outstrip the high street over recent years and many of our passengers have enjoyed the offering here at Manchester previously but we wanted to significantly invest in it and now we will wait to see whether those changes have an effect."
Travellers can catch flights to Dubai, Paris, New York and other destinations from Manchester Airport with carriers including Emirates, Air France and Northwest Airlines.
