Icelandair has confirmed that it will launch new flights to
Reykjavik from
Manchester Airport and
Glasgow Airport this year.
From September 25th, the airline will add two weekly flights to its winter schedule from the UK bases to
Reykjavik, with services operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Icelandair provides the flights on a 'triangle route' that links Reykjavik to
Manchester, followed by a service from Manchester Airport to
Glasgow and a final link from the Scottish destination to
Iceland's capital.
Travellers flying to Reykjavik with Icelandair can also catch connecting flights to some of the airline's destinations in
North America, including
New York,
Orlando and
Toronto.
Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, the carrier's general manager in the UK and Ireland, said: "We are pleased to expand our service from Glasgow and Manchester to Iceland and our North American destinations.
"This will provide our passengers with increased convenience and flexibility to travel to Iceland to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate, plus increase the options for connecting onwards to fantastic destinations like New York City, Boston, Seattle and more."
Flights to Reykjavik will prove popular with music fans later this year when the Iceland Airwaves festival is held from October 14th to 18th.
