Travellers looking to explore the south-east of Asia are set to benefit from the launch of special passes offering discounted air fares across the region.
In a bid to boost passenger numbers,
Malaysia Airlines has announced the launch of its Asean Pass, a set of four prepaid tickets allowing for travel between a number of hub destinations within south-east Asia.
According to Dr Munir Majid, director of the national airline, the car, which is available for business class or economy class travel, offers "phenomenal discounts", with the Malaysian capital of
Kuala Lumpur to serve as the main transit point.
It is intended that the pass will be purchased by international travellers, including those on flights from the UK to Australasia who opt to make a stop-off in Malaysia and are keen to explore the region further.
The tickets are valid for three months, with four one-way economy class tickets costing $299 and redeemable on flights across the countries that make up the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Kuala Lumpur, which continues to grow in popularity among international travellers, is famously home to the world's tallest twin buildings, the Petronas Towers.
