UK travellers promised more pleasant flights to Moscow
Travellers taking flights to Moscow and St Petersburg have been promised a more pleasant journey as the Russian national carrier works to upgrade both its planes and its hostesses.
Following on from a recent announcement from Aeroflot that it is to replace its ageing fleet with new, more fuel-efficient Airbus jets, the carrier intends to ensure that its staff are not only more polite but also more pleasing on the eye.
Speaking to the Russian newspaper Vedomosti, Aeroflot chief executive Vitaly Savelyev explained that his carrier is due to follow the lead of a number of other world airlines in upgrading its passenger experience.
We've looked at the uniforms of other major carriers. My son sent me a wonderful video clip of Virgin Atlantic - all of their stewardesses are in bright red uniforms and look like professional models
He also revealed that his staff are currently being trained by specialists from Singapore Airlines.
"We have fired a lot of stewardesses for being rude to passengers," he added.
From London Heathrow, Aeroflot currently offers direct flights to just Moscow-Sheremetyevo, through from here connections are available to numerous destinations including Odessa, St Petersburg and Vladivostok.
