European cities to present Ben Hur Live
A number of cities across Europe are set to host a tour of Ben Hur Live, a spectacular new show based on a book written by Lew Wallace in 1880.
The production has taken years to put together and is having its world premiere this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the release of Ben Hur, the Oscar-winning film adaptation of the novel starring Charlton Heston.
London's O2 Arena will be one of the first venues to host the show from September 17th to 20th before it heads to cities in Germany including Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and Munich in October.
Other cities that will feature on the tour before it comes to an end in January 2010 include Milan, Lisbon, Vienna, Paris and Barcelona.
A cast of hundreds perform in Ben Hur Live, as well as dozens of specially trained horses that take part in chariot races similar to those seen in the famous film of 1959.
The audience is seated in a grand 360-degree arena to watch the show, which features music by Stewart Copeland of the Police.
More information is available on the production's official website.
