Lonely Planet to release 'ultimate experiences' guide
Lonely Planet will release a new guide in September covering some of the unique and unmissable experiences on offer to travellers in various destinations around the world.
The new book, which is called 1,000 Ultimate Experiences, provides information on destinations, activities, journeys, cultural encounters, events and more.
In the section covering the world's most eccentric places to stay, travellers are encouraged to pay a visit to the Wadi Rum valley in south Jordan and sleep under the stars in a Bedouin tent.
Other experiences recommended by Lonely Planet include taking a train into Australia's Red Centre, sleeping in a hammock in Dahab, Egypt and visiting Bhutan, reportedly one of the world's happiest places.
In the introduction to 1,000 Ultimate Experiences, Lonely Planet founder Tony Wheeler writes: "I've always had travel lists going: things I really must get around to doing, experiences I just might get around to and places that I simply cannot understand why I haven't yet put a tick beside.
"1,000 Ultimate Experiences simply takes the sort of lists that I draw up and extends them in every direction."
September will also see the publication of the 11th edition of Lonely Planet's guide to Japan, which provides a host of information on travelling in the country.
