China Southern Airlines launches mobile check-in
China Southern Airlines has introduced a mobile check-in service for all domestic flights originating from Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou.
Travellers will be able to check in online at any time after 14:00 the day before their flight, up to 50 minutes before departure.
They will be asked to print their electronic boarding pass and input their phone number so the necessary documents can be instantly transmitted to their mobile.
Alternatively, passengers without internet access can send a question mark symbol to 95539 to have a barcode sent to their phone.
The International Air Transport Association has expressed its support for online and mobile check-in operations in the past, calling for universal implementation of barcode boarding passes by the end of 2010.
China Southern Airlines is the largest carrier in China and operates domestic services to destinations including Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
It is part of the Skyteam airline alliance, a group that also includes Air France, Continental Airlines and KLM.
