New hotel to open in the Maldives
Travellers planning to treat themselves to a trip to the Maldives in the near future may be interested in staying in a brand new hotel that is set to open in the country this year.
The new Holiday Inn Male, which comprises 117 rooms and is the tallest hotel in the Maldives, will begin welcoming guests on September 1st.
Officially the first Holiday Inn to be opened in the island nation, the property is located close to Male harbour and can be accessed by taking a five-minute speedboat ride from the international airport.
Facilities at the hotel include a rooftop swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa.
Guests will also benefit from easy access to nearby attractions such as Sultan Park, the harbour and the Presidential Palace.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) spokesperson Jolyon Bulley said: "Holiday Inn Male will offer leisure and corporate guests alike a perfect place to relax in comfort or conduct business with ease.
"As the first IHG hotel in the Maldives, this represents an important milestone for IHG. It presents not only a strategic opportunity for the group to contribute to the thriving tourism industry in Maldives, but also play a significant role within the Male community."
Travellers interested in visiting the Maldives can catch flights to Male with carriers including Sri Lankan Airlines, Emirates and bmi.
