People planning to visit
India this year will be offered a new travel option when
Etihad Airways launches new flights to
Hyderabad.
The carrier will launch four weekly services to the Indian city from
Abu Dhabi in November, with plans to increase the frequency to a daily service in January 2010.
Etihad will reportedly be the first airline to offer flights to Hyderabad, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh, from
Abu Dhabi.
Hyderabad will be the operator's seventh destination in India, joining other cities including
Chennai,
Kozhikode,
Mumbai and
Delhi.
James Hogan, chief executive of Etihad Airways, said: "Etihad has made no secret of the fact that it wants to build up its Indian services and looks forward to expand its flying programme to the country with the launch of this exciting new service.
"Hyderabad is a key Indian destination not currently served directly from Abu Dhabi."
Other destinations that the airline has added to its international network from Abu Dhabi this year include
Melbourne,
Athens and
Chicago.
