People planning a
family holiday this summer will find the best value and the most suitable facilities in established destinations such as
Spain,
Greece and
Egypt, according to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).
Ian Bradley, an AITO spokesperson, made his comments on the back of figures released by
Monarch which showed that its top-selling destinations this year are the Costa Blanca,
Crete and
Sharm el Sheikh.
Commenting on mainstream holiday hotspots, Mr Bradley said: "They're fairly mature destinations and they do cater to families quite well.
"Generally speaking there is normally very good capacity to these places, so you can get fairly good prices in terms of accommodation and flights."
The AITO spokesman also commented on some of the strategies being used in the aviation sector at the moment, with several airlines focusing on their leisure routes to make up for some of the profit they have lost in the
business market.
According to a survey published by AITO and Wanderlust magazine recently, 77 per cent of British people expect to travel as much this year as they did in 2008.
