New Tel Aviv flights welcomed in Israel
The government of Israel has welcomed the recent announcement by easyJet that it will be launching flights to Tel Aviv from Luton Airport.
Due to get underway on November 2nd, the route will represent the first time that travellers have been able to catch direct flights to Tel Aviv from the London area.
EasyJet will offer six weekly services to the Israeli city, with flights departing Luton Airport every day except Friday.
Pini Shani, a spokesman for Israel's tourism ministry, said that the new route will provide a substantial boost for the country's travel sector.
"It is fantastic news that the capacity for visitors to Tel Aviv is being increased so substantially with the introduction of six more flights a week to the destination by easyJet," he commented.
"This welcome investment into tourism to Israel by this leading low-cost airline will undoubtedly be of benefit to the consumer and grow visitor figures to Tel Aviv from the London area."
Jet2 recently announced that it will continue to operate flights to Tel Aviv from Manchester Airport until 2010.
