Efficiency 'to be improved' at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport
A new operations management system is to be installed at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta that is expected to have a beneficial effect on the day-to-day running of the hub.
The Aerobahn tool is provided by Sensis Corporation and is set to be up and running at the airport by late 2010.
Handling more than 250,000 passengers every day, Hartsfield-Jackson Airport claims to be the world's busiest and most efficient air hub.
The new system is expected to improve efficiency and customer experience further by providing tools that allow better management of daily operations.
Robert Kennedy, assistant general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, said: "The Aerobahn surface management system will help enhance airfield efficiency by providing airport and airline operations with real-time insight into the ground operations at the airport.
"This information enables users to proactively reduce taxi times for greater fuel savings and less environmental impact, facilitate on-time arrivals and quickly recover from inclement weather operations for improved customer experience."
The Atlanta hub hosts flights operated by some of the world's biggest carriers, including American Airlines, Air France, British Airways and Lufthansa.
