Bristol Airport prepares for busiest period of the year
Bristol Airport has revealed that it is expecting passenger numbers to reach their highest levels of the year so far over the coming weeks as Brits make last-minute bookings to escape the poor weather at home.
Traffic on international scheduled routes to and from the airport is beginning to return to 2008 levels following a drop in demand during the winter months.
August is set to be the busiest month of the year so far at the gateway, partly as a result of easyJet basing a twelfth aircraft at the airport for two weeks.
Bristol Airport appealed to passengers to make use of technology to make the travel process as simple and smooth as possible.
People flying with Air France, KLM, Eastern Airways and other carriers can use self-service kiosks to avoid queues, while easyJet passengers with hand luggage only can check-in online and go straight to security.
James Gore, head of communications at Bristol Airport, said: "We ask passengers travelling with scheduled airlines during August to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes ahead of their departure time and three hours ahead if travelling on a charter flight.
"The terminal team is working hard to keep any queues moving quickly, but leaving it late to check in or clear security can create problems and could mean running the risk of missing a flight."
The international network available from Bristol Airport includes flights to New York, Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam.
