With the
Edinburgh Festival set to get underway tomorrow (August 14th),
Flybe has reported that its
flights to Edinburgh are proving more popular than ever this year.
Throughout the month of August, the regional airline expects to carry almost 95,000 passengers to
Edinburgh, which would represent a year-on-year increase in traffic of eight per cent.
Along with its franchise partner Loganair, Flybe will offer up to 226 flights in and around Scotland this summer.
The carrier claims to offer three times more routes to Edinburgh than any other airline, with 17 direct services to the Scottish capital from locations across the
UK and
Europe.
Mike Rutter, Flybe's chief commercial officer, said: "Our seasonal passenger numbers clearly indicate that people are determined to enjoy a UK summer
by seeking out the most convenient and affordable way to travel, especially to the really big annual events such as the Edinburgh Festival."
The festival will run until September 6th, presenting various opera, theatre, visual arts and music events across the Scottish capital.
More information is available on its
official website.
