British football fans will soon be planning their trips across
Europe following last night's (August 27th) draw for the group stage of the 2009-10 Champions League tournament.
Chelsea supporters can look forward to trips to
Spain,
Portugal and
Cyprus as their side were drawn against Atletico
Madrid, FC
Porto and Apoel FC.
Manchester United have a couple of long trips in store, firstly to
Istanbul to play Besiktas and also to
Moscow to face local side CSKA.
The Premier League champions will also be travelling to
Germany to take on VfL Wolfsburg.
Supporters of Liverpool can look forward to visiting the scenic regions of south-west
France and Tuscany in
Italy as their side have been grouped with Olympique Lyonnais and Fiorentina, who are based in
Florence.
Arsenal were drawn in Group H with AZ Alkmaar of the
Netherlands, Belgian side Standard Liege and
Athens-based club Olympiacos.
The 2009-10 Champions League tournament will get underway with the first set of group games on September 15th.
