Jet2 to set up base at East Midlands Airport
Jet2 has announced plans to set up a new base at East Midlands Airport that will bring seven new routes to the gateway.
People in the East Midlands region will be offered new flights to Corfu, Lanzarote, Dalaman, Sharm el Sheikh, Paphos, Tenerife and Heraklion.
The airline will make more than 130,000 seats available to these destinations, with tickets on sale now for departures from May 2010.
Commenting on the airline's expansion at East Midlands Airport, managing director Ian Doubtfire said: "We are bringing with us our winning formula, offering people what they want: great holiday destinations, low fares, sociable flight times and a friendly service.
"It is fantastic that we can now offer flights from the Midlands and we are confident that our close relationship with the airport will see our presence grow further."
Jet2 also announced recently that it was investing in Newcastle Airport, with plans to launch new flights to Gran Canaria, Crete and other destinations next summer.
