Etihad Airways has introduced its new first class suite, which it claims is representative of "a new era in luxury air travel".
The cabin was introduced on August 29th on the airline's Airbus A340-600, which is currently being used to operate flights from
London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi.
Etihad's first class passengers can make use of facilities including an
inflight entertainment system providing more than 600 hours of content on demand and a 23-inch widescreen television.
The new suite also features an extra large leather seat that extends to become a flat bed and a changing room with a full-length mirror.
James Hogan, chief executive of the
Abu Dhabi-based airline, said: "The entry into service of our new first class product is a major milestone for Etihad Airways as it is the first time we have offered our customers their own private suite within the first class cabin.
"The new suite is state-of-the-art in every way and the innovative enhancements, such as a personal illuminated wardrobe with mirror and refreshment cabinet, demonstrate our continued commitment to provide a world-class experience for our premium passengers."
Etihad will take delivery of five more Airbus planes over the next two years that will be fitted with the new first class cabins.
