Brits planning late summer getaways
A large proportion of the British public is planning a late summer or autumn getaway to make up for the disappointing weather at home, according to a new survey.
Monarch Airlines carried out an online poll which found that 70 per cent of British travellers are planning to book a late deal and head overseas, with 47 per cent saying that the weather at home had influenced their plans.
Nearly a quarter (23 per cent) said that they were planning to go away later this year.
However, almost a third (30 per cent) of respondents to the poll said that they "love the rain" and that the weather has had no impact on their travel plans.
Monarch spokeswoman Liz Savage said that the airline had received "strong bookings" already this summer, with load factors on scheduled flights reaching 90 per cent in August.
She added: "The results of the poll clearly indicate however that a huge number of holidaymakers who have holidayed in the UK this summer are now planning to travel overseas to take advantage of some fantastic late deals and guarantee themselves some sunshine."
Monarch operates flights to a number of popular sun destinations, including Faro, Malaga and Larnaca.
