New Dan Brown novel 'could benefit Washington tourism'

The tourism industry in Washington DC, the capital of the US, could benefit from the publication of the eagerly awaited Dan Brown novel The Lost Symbol.

Due to be released on September 15th, the book will feature Brown's regular character Robert Langdon embarking on an action-packed adventure that takes in Washington's most famous sights and landmarks.

While the plot is being kept under lock and key prior to the release of the book, one attraction that is expected to appear is the Capitol, the building that serves as the meeting place of the US Congress.

Capital Region USA, the organisation responsible for promoting tourism in Washington, Virginia and Maryland, said that people who have read the book will be able to plot their own adventures around the city to visit the locations that feature in the story.

Visitors with an interest in espionage and intrigue can head to the International Spy Museum, where they can see exhibitions on subjects including George Washington's career as a spy.

In two of his previous novels - The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons - Brown sent his hero on adventures in the cities of Paris and Rome.
