New baggage policy announced by Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic has announced a new baggage policy which it claims is "as easy as 1-2-3".
The new 'piece system' will be introduced for all flights booked after November 25th and will allow all passengers flying in economy to check in one bag.
Premium economy customers will be able to board two bags and those travelling in upper class will be allowed to check in three pieces of luggage, with all items subject to a weight limit of 23kg.
Virgin Atlantic also announced the continuation of its sporting bag allowance, which enables all customers to check in an extra piece of luggage containing sports equipment.
Chris Birch, the airline's head of product and service, said: "Passengers can now benefit from one of the simplest and most generous baggage policies in the industry.
"It means lower charges for passengers wishing to take additional bags and a great allowance for those going on a sporting trip."
Virgin Atlantic operates a long-haul network from the UK that includes flights to Dubai, Sydney and New York.
