The city of
Orlando in
Florida remains a highly popular destination among British travellers partly because of its reputation for fun and hospitality, according to a spokeswoman for the local tourist board.
Danielle Courtenay of the
Orlando Tourism Bureau revealed that the UK is the destination's leading international market.
She said that the most powerful factors attracting Brits to Orlando include its weather and its range of attractions, which guarantee a carefree and enjoyable holiday.
"We were built on fun and hospitality," Ms Courtenay said. "If people come, they will be treated so well and we know that with the recession, people are looking for good value.
"Orlando has always been seen as a good value destination."
The average British holidaymaker spends between ten and 14 days in the Florida city, during which time they can visit attractions such as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld and Aquatica.
Flights to Orlando are provided by several carriers, including
United Airlines,
Virgin Atlantic and
Continental Airlines.
