SAS 'Europe's most punctual major airline'
SAS has claimed that it is the most punctual major airline in Europe following the release of statistics compiled by Flightstats.
During the three months from June to August, more than 92 per cent of SAS flights arrived at their destination on time.
The airline recently surveyed 2,000 people and found that 53 per cent were more irritated by delays than any other aspect of travelling by air.
John Dueholm, chief executive of SAS, said the carrier had "worked hard" on its punctuality performance as it is aware of the importance of passengers arriving at their destination on time.
He added: "On top of our first-rate punctuality statistics, we also offer our customers a wide range of services that makes travelling with SAS more time-efficient than other airlines, such as SMS and internet check-in, printing your boarding pass before getting to the airport, and then going through fast-track security.
"All in all, we aim to provide our customers with a hassle-free, time efficient and smooth travel experience."
The UK's Civil Aviation Authority released figures this month showing that Heathrow Airport reduced its average delay to ten minutes in the second quarter of the year.
