New facilities opened at Helsinki Vantaa Airport
Helsinki Vantaa Airport has confirmed the opening of a new shopping area and the My City Helsinki restaurant.
The launch of the facilities represents the second major phase in the transformation of the airport's terminal.
Travellers can browse in a number of new stores in the shopping area, including Mulberry, Luxbag, Stockmann and Aseman Kello.
Markku Remes, customer experience manager for Finnair, which is based in Helsinki, said: "Finnair customers arriving at the terminal now have full access to a new shopping area and a nearly 400-seat restaurant world, which includes a video theatre for the smallest members of the family and an ice-cream bar.
"Excellent champagne and interesting wines are available from the bar, while new gate facilities cut transfer times."
People catching connecting flights at Helsinki Vantaa Airport will be able to use a seven-line security check area.
The first phase of the hub's terminal development opened in August, providing new facilities for long-haul passengers and people travelling outside the Schengen visa agreement area.
Finnair operates flights to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo and many other destinations from Helsinki.
