American Airlines will launch flights from
Manchester Airport to New York next year, it has been announced.
The carrier confirmed that it would provide a non-stop daily route to
John F Kennedy Airport (JFK) in
New York from May 16th until September 30th.
American Airlines already offers up to seven weekly flights to
Chicago from
Manchester Airport, a route that it has provided for more than 20 years.
"We believe this new service to New York will prove equally popular, providing a great connection not only to one of the world's most exciting cities but also to the many destinations we serve from JFK," said Craig Kreeger, the airline's senior vice-president of international services.
Andrew Cornish, managing director of Manchester Airport, commented: "We're delighted that American Airlines have decided to launch their second long-haul service between Manchester and North America."
The
US airline also serves the British market with its range of services from
Heathrow Airport, which includes flights to
Dallas-Fort Worth,
Los Angeles,
Miami and
Boston.
