Aer Lingus prepares to launch winter routes
Aer Lingus will host a special event this week to mark the forthcoming launch of a number of winter routes from Gatwick Airport.
The airline has invited 300 people to take part in a giant snowball fight at Potters Field Park near Tower Bridge in London on September 30th.
All of the participants were recruited through a social media campaign, which attracted interest from more than 1,500 people.
The chosen 300 will take part in a series of throwing exercises using artificial snow and will be rewarded for their efforts with two free return flights from Gatwick Airport.
Enda Corneille, Aer Lingus' corporate affairs director, said: "What better way to celebrate our new winter sun destinations than transforming central London into a winter scene that would rival Lapland while getting everyone dressed up in their summer best?"
The airline's total number of winter destinations served from London Gatwick will rise to 13 when it launches five new routes on October 25th.
Travellers planning holidays over the festive period will be able to catch flights to Vienna, Munich, Malaga, Faro and other destinations with Aer Lingus.
