Some of the leading chefs in
Sydney have teamed up with the government of New South Wales to promote the city as the premier destination in
Australia for fine dining.
The partnership was announced yesterday (September 28th) by state tourism minister Jodi McKay, who said that the plan was the brainchild of entrepreneur and restaurant owner John Fink.
She revealed that the industry group includes Rockpool Bar and Grill, Berowra Waters Inn, Quay and other restaurants that travellers can visit during their time in
Sydney.
All of the establishments taking part were recently included in Australian Gourmet Traveller's list of the 100 best restaurants in the country.
"This partnership will strengthen Sydney's position as Australia's top dining and tourist destination both locally and on the international stage," Ms McKay said.
"Sydney is already recognised as one of the world's most iconic cities and this opportunity will highlight the very best of our dining experiences. It is a great example of industry and government working together and will hopefully tempt more domestic and overseas visitors to our great city."
The inaugural Crave Sydney festival, which is based around food, the arts and outdoor events, will begin on October 1st.
