Flybe reports strong demand for London Gatwick flights
Flybe has reported a "healthy upsurge" in bookings for its flights from Gatwick Airport.
The carrier said that travellers were showing appreciation for its location at the airport's south terminal following the news that the transit service between the north and south facilities is to be closed for eight months.
People travelling on any of Flybe's 466 weekly flights from the south terminal will be "wholly unaffected" by the inconvenience of using a replacement bus service, the company said.
Mike Rutter, the airline's chief commercial officer, revealed that it now carries more domestic passengers from London Gatwick than any other operator.
He added: "Passengers and booking agents have been quick to realise that, by booking with Flybe, they can now also offset the less than adequate transport link between the two terminals that, over the next eight months or so, will greatly inconvenience travellers having to use Gatwick's north terminal."
Travellers can catch flights to Dusseldorf, Belfast, Aberdeen and eight other destinations from Gatwick Airport with Flybe.
