EasyJet will launch new flights to
Dusseldorf next year from
London Gatwick Airport and
Rome Fiumicino Airport.
The carrier confirmed that the new service from
Italy's capital city will begin on February 1st, with the
London connection launching the following day.
Dusseldorf, the capital of the North-Rhine Westphalia region, is a "modern city with a lively cultural scene and vibrant nightlife", according to easyJet.
The destination is also one of
Germany's main commercial centres, meaning that the new services could prove popular with
business passengers.
A total of 29 new routes will be launched by easyJet over the 2009-10 winter season, including flights to
Copenhagen,
Munich,
Fuerteventura,
Lanzarote and
Marrakech.
The airline's chief executive officer, Andy Harrison, recently commented on the company's environmental stance, saying that technology is "the key to cutting aviation emissions".
He added: "The next generation of aircraft, which are under development, will reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50 per cent."
