Wizz Air has announced that
Wroclaw will be the location of its 12th operating base from July next year.
The destination will serve as the airline's fifth base in
Poland.
It was also confirmed at a press conference in Wroclaw that Wizz Air will be launching six new routes from the city, with flights to
Paris Beauvais and
Oslo Torp starting in December and services to
Eindhoven,
Milan Bergamo, Forli
Bologna and
Cork commencing in July 2010.
A connection to
Doncaster-Sheffield Airport will also be resumed from the Polish city, joining the existing link to
Luton Airport.
John Stephenson, executive vice-president of Wizz Air, said: "Wroclaw will become our fifth base in Poland, reinforcing our commitment to the largest market in Wizz Air's network as well as our leadership in the Polish market.
"With this move we will further enhance the travel opportunities for millions of Poles in the west of the country, create hundreds of local jobs and significant revenue uplift for the tourism industry in the region."
The airline also announced recently that it will be basing a third aircraft in
Sofia from May next year.
