British Airways has announced that it recorded its best ever punctuality rate for the month of September this year.
More than half of the airline's worldwide flights departed early and 87 per cent of services left early on time, making last month the best September on record and also the most punctual month since January 1994.
British Airways claims that the positive performance follows a "strong summer" at
Heathrow Airport, where
Terminal 5 reportedly fared "exceptionally well" despite the
London hub experiencing its busiest ever August.
The carrier said that more than three quarters of its customers now rate its service as either highly or very satisfactory.
Director of operations Andy Lord said: "Our operations around the world continue to achieve the very highest standards and our customers are showing their appreciation.
"On some days we have seen up to 95 per cent of our short-haul flights around Europe departing on time. Terminal 5 is a world class facility and its efficiency is proving a huge bonus to both our punctuality and reliability."
Mr Lord went on to say that British Airways is working with authorities at London Heathrow and
Gatwick Airport to keep runway and air traffic delays to a minimum.
