Families 'looking for late half-term breaks'
Many British families will be searching for last-minute half-term breaks this month to enjoy some good weather and a spot of relaxation before Christmas, according to International Currency Exchange (Ice).
The company revealed that it is expecting countries such as Turkey and Egypt to prove popular as a result of the ongoing weakness of the pound against the euro.
Long-haul destinations like Thailand and Jamaica could also interest British travellers, according to Ice, as well as traditional hotspots that still offer good weather such as Italy, Portugal and Spain.
Offering some budget advice for people planning a last-minute break, Andy Hamilton, head of marketing for Ice, said: "It is easy to look at the cost of the flight and hotel to decide where the cheapest holiday will be but travellers also need to think about the cost of their holiday, once at their destination.
"The little extras can soon mount up and the cost of many holiday activities can really vary from country to country."
Travellers were also advised to be aware of additional expenses that can result from using currency ATMs or making purchases with credit cards abroad.
