Tokyo Haneda posts best on-time performance in September
Tokyo Haneda Airport was the world's leading air travel hub for on-time arrivals in September, according to new statistics.
FlightStats released a report showing that the Tokyo gateway achieved a punctuality rate of 95.88 per cent during the month, followed by Seoul Incheon with 91.46 per cent.
The research also covered airlines, finding that US carriers posted an overall on-time performance of 85.53 per cent last month, compared to 79.3 per cent in August.
Of the country's major operators, United Airlines (87.44 per cent) and US Airways (87.32) were among the top five for punctuality.
In Europe, VLM, SAS and KLM all featured in the top ten after at least 90 per cent of their services arrived on time in September.
Japan Airlines was among the top performers in Asia with 94.49 per cent of its flights reaching their destination on time, while Singapore Airlines (90.58 per cent) and Thai Airways (86.39 per cent) also featured in the top ten.
FlightStats tracks the performance of over 150,000 flights per day to compile its punctuality reports.
